Impressionist Portrait of a Pelicans at the Beach

This painting was inspired by several photos of white pelicans near the coast. Their beautiful white feathers seem to glow in the light and reflect every color of of the sky and beach. I particularly like this grouping of pelicans..they look like they are having a great day at the beach.

The background of this painting is a muted turquoise. The rest of the painting is a kaleidoscope of blues, pinks and oranges. The brushwork is visible and the colors and shapes lock into each other with both soft and hard edges.
